Inclusive walk at the Buda Castle Quarter

Details

Inclusive walk at the Buda Castle Quarter

During the walk, we start from the Széll Kálmán Square and go to the Buda Castle Quarter and its surroundings. The walk takes about two and a half hours, progressing comfortably. The route is a mix of cultural, historical, park-like, or romantic atmospheres, with hidden and less hidden sculptures and tactile maps along the way, ensuring everyone will enjoy it.

All parts of the walk are barrier-free, so no one with a wheelchair is left out, but the route contains slight slopes and cobblestone sections. We will use the buses of the public transport system of Budapest, for which the necessary tickets or passes are not included in the price, but we can help you with the purchase process. You can also come with a guide dog, and one companion can join the walk for free per person with a disability. The guide is trained for guiding the visually impaired and can assist with wheelchair navigation. Additionally, depending on the number of assistants needed, we can provide multiple helpers after prior coordination.

The meeting point is at the main entrance on the ground floor of the Széll Kálmán M2 metro stop. Without a guide dog it is easily accessible for visually impaired people with the M2 metro, with a wheelchair or a guide dog, avoiding the escalator, you can get off at the Széll Kálmán tér stop of the low-floor tram 4 or 6 and you can get there in less than a minute. We start from Széll Kálmán tér, then take a low-floor bus of the public transport system of Budapest  and get off at the Vienna Gate. From here, we will go to the Church of Saint Mary Magdalene, the Wall of the Castle at the Tóth Árpád promenade, Trinity Square with the Matthias Church and Fisherman’s Bastion, Sándor Palace, Budapest Castle Hill Funicular, the Buda Castle and the Lions Court. After that, we take another low-floor bus of the public transport system of Budapest and get off at the Clark Ádám Square at the Chain Bridge, and then walk to the final destination, the Várkert bazaar. From here, you can get home with the low-floor tram number 19 or 41 from the Várkert Bazár stop.
